Marcel Cartier

Marcel Cartier is a critically acclaimed hip-hop artist, activist and journalist who currently works as the U.S. West Asia Policy Editor for the website TheRegion.org, a project that was started by the late Mehmet Aksoy. He is based in Berlin.

Cartier was born in Germany, raised on U.S. military bases in Europe, became politically involved in the radical left in New York in his early 20s, and was an active participant in the Occupy Wall Street movement.

As a journalist for RT, he travelled extensively from 2013 to 2014, including to Egypt, Turkey, Iraq, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Ukraine, and many other countries. He later became a producer for Radio Sputnik’s programs in 2015, a job which held until the end of 2017.

He has been frequently interviewed in the capacity of an artist, activist and journalist on Press TV, RT, Al Mayadeen, TeleSUR, and many other networks. The 9 hip-hop albums that he has released since 2007 have generated tens of thousands of sales in digital copies, and more than half a million views on YouTube.
