Ian Parker

Ian Parker is an activist and academic, a revolutionary Marxist, and practising Lacanian psychoanalyst in Manchester, involved in various political movements in the past forty years. He is part of the Asylum Collective which produces Asylum: Magazine for Democratic Psychiatry. He has visiting professorial posts in universities in Britain, Belgium, Brazil, Spain and South Africa. In addition to authoring and editing a number of books on ‘critical psychology’, psychoanalysis and radical research methods, he was author of Slavoj Žižek: A Critical Introduction (Pluto, 2004), which has been translated into Korean, Russian and Slovene, and Revolution in Psychology: Alienation to Emancipation (Pluto, 2007), which has been translated into Greek, Spanish and Portuguese.
