About Zero Books

The modern world is at an impasse. Disasters scroll across our smartphone screens and we’re invited to like, follow or upvote, but critical thinking is harder and harder to find. Rather than connecting us in common struggle and debate, the internet has sped up and deepened a long-standing process of alienation and atomization.

Zer0 Books wants to work against this trend.

With critical theory as our jumping off point, we aim to publish books that make our readers uncomfortable, books that require authors go beyond hot takes and received opinions. Zer0 Books is on the left and wants to reinvent the left. We are sick of the injustice, the suffering, and the stupidity that defines both our political and cultural world, and we aim to find a new foundation for a new struggle.

Recent bestselling/important Zer0 Books titles include: Kill All Normies, Capitalist Realism, The Writing on the Wall, Neglected and Misunderstood: Introducing Theodor Adorno, In the Dust of This Planet.

For authors: We accept unsolicited manuscripts. Please go to Author Inquiry and fill out the form. We offer traditional publishing contracts with royalties. We have an extensive Author Guide which explains all that an author needs to know about publishing books. Our sales teams sell to all chain and independent booksellers in the UK, USA, and English-speaking territories worldwide, plus online retailers. Our umbrella company is John Hunt Publishing Ltd.

ABOUT JOHN HUNT PUBLISHING

An independent publisher with sales teams worldwide welcoming new authors and unsolicited manuscript submissions.

For our authors we provide an automated production system, forums, a marketing database with over 40,000 contacts and other online tools to produce and market each book. We partner with our authors on marketing, reaching all the traditional bookstore markets for print books, worldwide, and all online retailers.

Everything is based on transparency. Authors can see everything that’s going on, including monthly accounts. They have access to our contacts database, can add to it, can even get involved in the business. Most of the people working here came into it as authors.

And it doesn't get any more transparent than this: below you will see a real-time snapshot of the data in our system. The numbers are just presented here to demonstrate the kind of company we want to be... where authors pool resources because we are stronger together.
